The Importance of Stepping Forward
“After years of working long hours as a doctor of anesthesiology, (sometimes as much as 100 in a week) I’ve taken it upon myself to get an MBA in Healthcare Management so I can make a new opportunity for myself instead of waiting for one to come along.” That is what James W. Daniels shared about his current transition time.
“As an anesthesiologist, I’ve worked in healthcare in many of the large hospitals in New Jersey as well as smaller community hospitals and surgery centers."
”I got to the point where I felt I was on a hamster wheel, not advancing my career or growing the way that I wanted to or learning under the right people or in the right places.”
”Don’t get me wrong, work has been satisfying on many levels. A labor of love, but I asked myself, ‘Is this what I want to do forever?”
”What else is there?”
“I just finished the first semester of my MBA with a view of graduating in 2025. I’m doing
that while working.”
”Currently, I am working towards a leadership position in a private practice group. My hope is that the MBA will help me get there, and allow me to elevate the group in this dynamic and changing landscape of healthcare.”
”Going to school and working the hours I work could be daunting, but I welcome the challenge.”
”I do believe it will help me get where I want to be.”
”I encourage others in my situation who feel like they are spinning on the hamster wheel, try not to listen to fear. If you know in your heart you should take a particular path, if it seems it is a good idea, step forward. Always listen to your heart, don't give into fear.”
"Having worked in healthcare for my professional career, I had little experience with networking and self-promotion, so I thought the best place to start was with a high-quality headshot. After researching many photographers, I read Alissa’s extensive reviews and reached out. She personally called me, almost immediately.”
”My hours are long and my schedule is unpredictable. I had to make a last-minute adjustment to our appointment and Alissa was kind and more than accommodating. She has a great eye and great style. She is affable and personable.”
”She was able to bring out the best of me. My first experience with headshots was fantastic.”
Thank you, James, for sharing your story with us.
