The Importance of Genuine Connection
I recently had the privilege of photographing Kirk Knudsen. I asked Kirk to share some of his story with me.
“I’ve gone through a metamorphosis in the last few years that has allowed me to reflect about what’s important to me. As a result, I’ve begun to embrace and value connection so much more. I’ve found that building genuine connections actually helps support what I do in my work. I’m more authentic in my interactions with my clients. From my perspective, I relate to them so much more on a personal level and try to meet them where they are.”
During the last few years, Kirk has had some wonderful things happen. “I met someone that has really been very supportive of me and helped me to grow as well. She's been a wonderful, supportive partner who has also helped change my perspective on things. I’ve watched my kids graduate college. I’m watching my son carve his own path and live according to his values. My first granddaughter is now 2 years old. It’s amazing to be able to see the development of a child and how engaged she is with the world.”
“That also makes me think a bit more about everybody I come in contact with and how we’ve all been children—there is this childlike quality within each of us that makes us more human. We all face challenges. We all go through this life and are shaped by events that occur while we’re learning to navigate the world.”
“I am so grateful for everyone I come in contact with and work with. I’m grateful for the opportunity I have to help my clients do the things that are important to them.”
Thank you, Kirk, for the privilege of capturing this part of your “metamorphosis.”
