Headshots for Strategic Advisor & Fractional Revenue Leader

“Your career is really long. You truly don’t know what the future may bring.”

That is how Lisa Scotto Pommerening answered when I asked what advice she would give her younger self. During our January headshot session, Lisa continued:

“When we start our careers, we think there is so much pressure on the first job, the second job, climbing the ladder (or jungle gym). We put so much pressure on those decisions when, in reality, your career is a marathon and we need to enjoy each of the different moments and phases.”

In her 40s, Lisa’s role was on the trajectory to be an executive when her role was eliminated. This gave her a lot of time to reflect on her journey and where she wanted to go. As a result, Lisa started her own company, LMS Growth Consulting.

“When I lost my job, it gave me a unique opportunity to reevaluate and change tracks. It made me stronger and gave me the ability to push through and ultimately figure it out. It taught me that you might have your sights set on something or a plan for your future, but it may not happen. I had to decouple myself and my identity from my job. There need to be other things that fill your bucket – hobbies, friends, whatever. Bringing a fully rounded person to the table is what makes you a better worker, leader or employee.”

“As women, we feel there is a lot of pressure on things, but there are very few things that can’t be undone. Have a more curious outlook or growth mindset and see where it goes. You can explore different things to find what brings you joy or gets you fired up, then decide if it’s something you want to pursue professionally or as a personal hobby.”

“I started my own company last year as the latest chapter in my journey. I provide strategy and consulting services for B2B media, entertainment and tech. I realized after the pandemic, I needed a much more realistic and polished photo to represent my new business and current look. As a consultant, I’m the brand. It’s important that I had a professional headshot that made me feel confident and that also instills confidence when other people are deciding whether they want to work with me.”

“I just found Alissa to be such a refreshing experience. We laughed so hard during the shoot. She’s great at putting people in a relaxed frame of mind in order to get amazing images that truly capture who they are.”
